Retire from your job, but never from your mind.

01-07-2024

This is a tribute to Robin-Cole Morgan, a most popular and trusted dentist, who hung up his dental gloves, probe and mirror after 50 years of dentistry working at Bank Cottage Dental.

When he arrived in Thornbury in 1970, he had only expected to stay for around 6 months but over the many decades caring for the many patients he saw, Robin became very much part of the local community.
Robin had not planned to retire and was keen to adapt to the “new norm” post the coronavirus pandemic. However, due to the medical advice given at the time and with the situation unlikely to change for the near foreseeable future, Robin made the difficult decision and reluctantly retired from a profession he so loved.

His enthusiasm for his career and passion towards the challenge of being able to fix anything, meant dentistry and working at Bank Cottage Dental was “not a job but a hobby” as recalled by his daughter, Becky. She fondly recollects how the practice in Castle Street became his second home and how her mother, Steph who was also a retired dentist at Bank Cottage Dental, would often have to call him to see if he was coming back home! Weekends were often filled with her father scooting off to the surgery to help someone with a dental emergency.

Robins’ charisma and dedication to the dental profession resulted in generations of families returning to be treated at Bank Cottage Dental over the decades, even when they moved away.
Robin will be greatly missed by his loyal patients, many of whom became friends and by his colleagues at Bank Cottage Dental, who will never forget all his funny tales and his ingenious inventions!

Testimonials

As a person with a fear of dentists who had not visited one in 8 years I can honestly say Dentist Tim Lindop and Nurse Lisa made me feel at ease. They were friendly and professional and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Tim took the time to thoroughly explain to me what he was going to do before beginning which took a lot of my anxiety away. After explaining my concerns Tim was very patient and understanding and the injections I received were very gentle. Excellent dental practice with exceptional staff, I won't be going anywhere else in future.
